Fastest Growing Cities in the U.S.
Thanks to The Census Bureau, we now know the current fastest growing cities in the U.S. – and the list may surprise you! Almost all of the cities on this list are in the south, and most of them are in good ole Texas, our home. Isn’t everything bigger and better in Texas? We think so. Four of the top five are in Texas, which makes an impressive lone star state growth rate.
The top fastest growing city is Conroe, Texas just outside of Houston. It boasted a hefty 7.8% growth rate between 2015 & 2016. That’s a larger percentage of growth than the entire country has! There are many factors that contribute to this growth. There’s the master-planned community, Grand Central Park located in Conroe. It’s within close proximity to the newer Exxon Mobil campus in The Woodlands, while having a little more green space. Job opportunities and low costs of living in Texas are a major contributor for Conroe’s growth. On top of all this, the folks in Conroe seem to be extra-friendly. Adam Sandler even has some input on just how friendly they were to him recently!
Other red-hot growth spots are both in Texas, including Frisco with a 6.5% growth rate and McKinney, with a 5.9% growth rate. A few other Lone Star State cities make the list. Here are the top ten fastest growing cities in the U.S. according to The Census Bureau:

Although it did not make the Census Bureau’s list, Houston in general is an ever-growing and popular city. In fact, Houston was just named the top U-Haul destination! What does this mean exactly? We know more and more people are packing up the U-Haul and heading here. It’s the eighth year in a row that Houston boasts this title. After Houston, the other high ranking cities include Chicago, San Antonio, Orlando, and Austin.
The top U-Haul destination cities are ranked according to the total number of one-way U-haul truck rentals arriving to a city over a calendar year. The president of U-Haul Company of Gulf Coast Texas, Jerry Juan, explains, “Houston is growing by leaps and bounds.” Playing major roles in Houston’s 8th year as the top U-Haul destination includes a diverse selection of industries with plenty of jobs to go around. Our city and our suburbs are truly difficult to beat!

The job market is soaring, with highway systems such as The Grand Parkway which make long commutes shorter.
